Cafe del Rey, Marina Del Rey

A friend and I stopped by Cafe del Rey for lunch on the last day of DineLA and had a very pleasant meal over looking the marina. We picked this restaurant since it was close to our work and the idea of being right next to the ocean was an added bonus.

The bread came with a tapenade and olive oil balsamic mixture.

The tomato soup was slightly chunky which I liked and the parmesan crisp added a richness and saltiness to every spoon full.

The prawns were cooked well and the ras el hanout cilantro marinade was very good. All the elements on this plate was balanced and the harissa vinaigrette had just the right amount of heat.

The pistachio carrot cake was moist and a lot lighter than we both expected. I could have done without the candied carrot and sugar.

Overall, we had an enjoyable meal at Cafe del Rey. Good flavors, good portions, and good service.
