Little Next Door, Mid-City

Little Next Door is the casual cafe neighbor to The Little Door and both restaurants have been on my list to try for years. For this visit, we decided to try Little Next Door. The restaurant has an open outdoor seating area with additional tables inside making it perfect for a casual dinner on a beautiful evening.

Foie Gras Torchon

The foie gras was smooth and spreadable just like butter. It went well with the grilled flat bread and jam.

Grilled Calamari Salad

The calamari was tender and seasoned just right to bring out the natural sweetness. The lemon-caper dressing added a nice acidity to the salad without overpowering the flavors.

Moules Frites

The giant bowl of mussels also came with pomme frites, which were delicious. The wine sauce was light and subtle, not too much cream to make the dish feel heavy.

Flat Iron Steak

The steak came out medium-rear, the way we ordered it. It was tender, juicy and paired with a delicious peppercorn sauce.

Coconut Cheesecake

This was our first time trying coconut cheesecake and we were pleasantly surprised. The cheesecake was creamy and slightly airy with a well defined coconut flavor.

Our meal at Little Next Door was enjoyable and satisfying. The outdoor cafe atmosphere and the pace of the food added to the relaxing ambiance. The portions were good and we could have easily done without the appetizer or salad. Our waiter told us the brunch is very popular and we look forward to trying it the next time we are in the area.
